The Port Isabel-San Benito Navigation District is seeking a dependable and experienced Maintenance to join our team. This position is responsible for maintaining District buildings, roadways, grounds, infrastructure, vehicles, and equipment to support safe and efficient operations throughout the Port.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Facilities & Building Maintenance
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on District buildings and facilities.
  • Complete janitorial duties for office and District facilities as assigned.
  • Inspect and maintain drainage systems.
  • Maintain and replace District signage.
  • Perform carpentry, plumbing, drywall, painting, and general facility repairs.
Roadway & Infrastructure Maintenance
  • Repair and maintain Port-maintained roadways, including pothole repair and crack sealing.
  • Sweep roadways as directed.
  • Maintain rip-rap and shoreline erosion control areas.
  • Remove shoreline debris.
  • Perform mowing, trimming, and vegetation control on District-owned properties, acreage, and rights-of-way.
Equipment & Fleet Maintenance
  • Perform routine maintenance on District vehicles, tractors, and equipment.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, service records, and department inventory.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as backhoes, excavators, loaders, and graders.
  • Knowledge of repairs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting over 10 lbs.
  • Mon–Fri, 8 AM–5 PM (occasional weekends/holidays/evenings).
  • Full-Time | $14.00 an hour
Additional Requirements
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License required.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid TWIC card.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
